Public Speaking (Thursday, 11/03/2010)

Conducted by:
Mister Farizal Kamal Bin Mohamed

From this module, I got the tips of public speaking from Mister Farizal; in order to be heard to public we must voice out our opinion and to voice our opinion we must speak clearly and improve on our grammar.

Before public speaking we must do the following (cited from http://lifehacker.com/161531/public-speaking-dos-and-donts) :

1. Audience
Get information about who will be attending your presentation.

2. The take-away message
Focus on that message. Start out with this summary statement in mind and build your presentation around it.

3. Outline
Once you have an idea of your presentation's main message, spend some time thinking about the structure of the entire talk.

4. Strong start
The first couple of minutes of your talk should be the most prepared and polished. You want to get off to a good start.

5. Confidence and enthusiasm
Make sure that you exert confidence during your presentation. Don't apologize for what you don't have with you to present or what you do not know. Rather, focus on what you can talk about and discuss the material with confidence.

6. Practice makes perfect
Practice the presentation a few times. It can be especially helpful to give the talk to someone who is not in your field and is not intimately familiar with the material. This is helpful in seeing whether you have made the talk too narrowly focused or overly technical.

First Impression of UniRazak

UniRazak?? I think I heard that education institution's name before from my colleagues.
Well, as the BeST (Biotechnology Entrepreniuership Special Traning) program did take place in UniRazak, I think this would be the best opportunity to discover Unirazak as much as I can.

The first day when I came in for the registration day, I was shock actually. This is due to the location of UniRazak itself which is in the CapSquare. Oh my God, what a distraction is going to be while i am in the training for 3 months.

But the moment I entering the building, the UniRazak, it was really quiet and there were not many people around. All of the sudden, I feel serenity and I talk to myself, is all going to be fine with the distraction. Soon after brief introduction, the instructors walk us (participants of BeST program) through the building and I found that the halls and corridors are really clean.
